Longevity, low maintenance, speed of construction and aesthetics was what Bethel College demanded for a new multipurpose stadium. When the prestressed concrete was compared to other construction methods the concrete stadium provided and met all criteria. This stadium provides a great view of the playing surface from all of the 2,500 seats. The stadium contained 417 pieces that were erected in four weeks. The longest panels were 35 feet and each weighed 15 tons. The restroom facilities are enclosed with prestressed concrete insulated sandwich panels under the stadium. These low maintenance panels provide for an economical conditioned space. An elevator is located in one of the towers and the top level provides additional seating which is handicapped accessible. The concession area is located between the two towers. The press box is accessible from the elevator or from the stadium. As Laverne Epp, President of Bethel College stated, You build a stadium once every 50 years or so. This is our first stadium, we wanted the assurance it would last over time. He went on to say this complex is a tremendous addition to the north part of the campus. The aesthetics and durability were even more impressive than we had envisioned.
